An area farm decided to comply early with upcoming industry regulations dictating standardized RFID tagging of their category of livestock. Justifiably concerned about making the best choice possible when it came to competing systems and operating under a deadline to be eligible for industry assistance in the purchase, my services were engaged to cut through the double-talk and confusing mass of information the different suppliers were providing.

The first step was to carefully determine the actual practices of the farm in question and how the use of RFID technology would positively impact operational efficiency. The next step was a review of the systems on offer and extensive research into peer reviews including industry studies undertaken by government agencies throughout the world. Lastly, all of the systems that were short listed for being both on budget and potentially showing a positive impact on farm operations were evaluated for user friendliness – were they easy to use?

At the end of the consultation I was able to work with the farmer to recommend the most cost effective and user friendly solution.
